In the past, trade, production of handicrafts and artistry was conducted in "Guild" system. Included in this system were the Shoemakers Guild, Tanners Guild, Ironsmiths Guild. Saddlery, coppersmithery, tinsmithery, shoemaking, leathery are trades which are almost forgotten in our day. In the town centre of Safranbolu, you can see these trades continuing today appropriate to the guild system.
